OUR MISSION

Skate Essex is a volunteer organization which empowers the children of Northern New Jersey through skateboarding. We work with local communities to create safe skateboarding spaces and skateboarding programs for children to have an active lifestyle, build confidence, express creativity, break down social barriers and have fun.

WHAT WE DO

Help communities create high quality skateparks and safe skateboarding spaces

Host inclusive and diverse skate events for youth of all genders, backgrounds, and abilities to promote the positive cultural and educational experiences rooted in skateboarding

Provide skateboarding equipment to children in need

Facilitate skateboarding lessons 

Support youth based skateboarding groups and school clubs

OUR FOCUS

Our focus is to help kids discover or increase their love of skateboarding. In particular, we focus on children who seek alternatives to team sports. We aim to remove barriers that prevent these kids from participating in outdoor exercise, free play, and socialization.

WHO WE ARE

Founded in Northern New Jersey in 2018, Skate Essex members include a diverse collective of passionate parents, students, educators, civic leaders, nonprofit professionals, business executives, community advocates, local businesses and skateboard industry experts united to fulfill our mission.

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) New Jersey charitable organization.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to increase access to quality skateparks across Northern New Jersey; to empower children and skaters of all ages to advocate for their skateboarding communities; and to highlight and promote diversity, equity and inclusivity within skateboarding communities.
